I was reared with two siblings, a sister and brother, in the country on a farm in lower Alabama, what we sometimes refer to as LA.  Our upbringing was rigorous; we worked every day of the week with very few holidays.  We learned many lessons besides farming.  We gained respect for life, nature, other human beings, and a great appreciation for life.  Daddy worked with the county and then came home and farmed until past dark.  Momma cooked breakfast, lunch, and dinner for us as well as worked outside on the land each day. They worked diligently to make sure all three of us had a good education so that we could improve ourselves to become successful.   

After a time, I married into a beautiful Portuguese family, and I learned so many things culturally, for we came from very opposite backgrounds, such as religious beliefs as well as foods and flavors.  My mother-in-law lived with us for twenty years, and I was exposed to may Portuguese foods that I will forever love.  The Portuguese people use olive oil and wine to boost flavors in many foods, which made my Southern taste buds pop to life. 

Now, my wife and I have three grown adult children, and I do not want any of their heritage to be lost with time; hence, I started a YouTube channel and website.  I want my kids to have access to some of the wonderful recipes from my mom and my Portuguese family.

As I have moved forward in life, I never forget my roots of growing up on that dirt road farm and the loving memories that were made there.  It grounds me and makes me appreciate every person, every individual, because everyone has something to offer to the world. So, please enjoy my videos and make some of the delicious food.  Most of the recipes are easy and not too tricky to make, so if you think you are not a good cook, I promise everyone will think you are the best!
